Dream and backup settings

Choose safe Dream and backup defaults before heavier memory maintenance.

Dream and backup settings should be configured together.

Dream can improve memory quality, but backup is what makes maintenance reversible. Configure backup before scheduling broad maintenance.

  1. Choose a backup location that survives container rebuilds.
  2. Run a manual backup.
  3. Verify restore in a test environment when changing backup settings.
  4. Keep Dream review conservative until recall quality is stable.
  5. Run Dream manually before enabling scheduled runs.
  6. Review Dream suggestions before approving memory changes.

Settings to review

AreaWhat to decide
dream.enabledwhether scheduled Dream is allowed

dream.auto_approve_changeskeep false unless you trust the workflow and have verified backups

Do not schedule broad automated maintenance until you have a restore path you trust.
